Bom Sucesso is not too much of a resort but more of an experience. Their luxury villas are much more like a house than a real room. It’s a resort and it oozes luxury from every pore. Although it’s extremely private and secluded it is a five minute drive (or bike ride if you prefer) from Lagoa de Obidos o Covão dos Musaranhos a stunning lagoon nearby and of course, the historical town of Óbidos, therefore there’s still a lot to do if you don’t play golf.
Now all those villas is secluded and boasts stunning views of the route and the plant out. Inside each villa (which spans more than two floors) you have a kitchen, lounge area complete with two comfy couches and a working fireplace. (Not that you need it because the rooms are all fitted with heat incorporating to the comfy vibe of these lodging). In our case we were bombarded with a note along with a bottle of cheese and wine. There are two bathrooms one downstairs and upstairs and there’s a place with two wardrobes and storage area that combines the en suite to the bedroom itself. The master bedroom is made up of king size double four poster bed beside a floor to ceiling window that looks out onto your private patio. (There’s one upstairs for you as well if was not enough!) Everything has contemporary furnishings and can be topped off with a muted color palette and marble floors. However, it goes without mentioning that the wash of light which enters the space as soon as you lift the blind is phenomenal. One of this trip’s highlights was being able to wake up with the sun drenching your face with only the touch of a button bliss. Regarding facilities you have whatever you need plus more, television (again upstairs and downstairs) and surround sound entertainment system.
Although hard to leave this piece of heaven, lunch in the clubhouse had to be done. The clubhouse provides chambers indoors and out and being able to lunch on the outside terrace overlooking the golf course was brilliant. Portugal is a country famous for its fish and fish these were the stars of the menu. There were new prawns followed by Mediterranean and salmon vegetables, a real taste of the sea. Then followed using a conventional sweet Portuguese desert the perfect way and Serradura which was heady and sweet. The breakfast in the clubhouse the next morning was great as well, a lot of staff who were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had all that we had, magnificent views and options.
Bom Sucesso Resort provides a different experience from any location I have ever stayed in and the only unfortunate thing about our stay was having to check out at the end. Hands down one of the most beautiful hotels you’ll ever see would be an extra bonus.
