We seen in a rug of burning-coloured leaves littered the floor to the courtyard it only added to the charm and Autumn. The Hotel itself is an elegant country house and as you step inside you really do feel like you’ve stepped into a bygone age. The staff are quick to greet us and take our luggage to our room, causing us into their primary lounge for a cup of java and some lunch away from the cold. A deep red fire burns its flames licking at at the hearth and delivering a cosy glow during, in an elegant fireplace. Soft fall light seeps through big windows showing the gardens beyond and gentle music plays.
We indulge at a lunch of toasted sandwiches which we eat by the fire and a cup of java (using fresh tea leaves of course) before heading upstairs to have a look at the room. The resort holds just 15 bedrooms and two suite rooms- each styled — and each using their own personal touches and beautiful views. The area exudes a historical grandeur yet in no way feels dated. It encapsulates the charm of the past and creates a sanctuary of tranquillity and a distance to unwind and rejuvenate. The bed is plush and comfortable, the mind sinks effortlessly to cushions along with the duvet wraps around you like a giant hug. The bathroom is modern with classical touches and indulgent toiletries and continues the theme. A nice tub and his and hers sinks make for finishing touches.

The setting is elegant and indulgent, with flickering magnificent views of the gardens, flowers in vases and candles. This is a menu that is as it’s tasting as superbly presented. Smoked fish, beautifully poultry, gently sprinklings of pepper, vegetables , fresh sea salt and garlic. Flavours are evident in each and every dish, a gentle marrying of absolute deliciousness which leaves you wondering just anybody can create culinary perfection and teases the tastebuds.
In the starters to the main into the desserts, each training course and each is thought out. A highlight of the meal has been the chef’s renowned apple dessert — a combination of blackberry and apple compotes, laced with Calvados and crème de mure and paired with apple sorbet and a golden crumb. The sugar dome centre piece is stunning (and almost too good to eat!)
The service at Hambleton Hall is next to none. The staff are helpful attentive and friendly and the wine connoisseur exemplary in his knowledge of these bottles of provide.
