City life is fantastic, but it is good to escape from the hustle and bustle and just be able to relax, unwind and rejuvenate. And if that is what you’re looking for, I’ve got the place.
Place in 125 acres of North Devonshire countryside is break destination, an idyllic country house and Highbullen Hotel. Nestled Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks and in easy reach of Exeter’s Devon County Town, this really is a Hotel that offers an isolated retreat’s escapism without really being out of the way.
The area
Highbullen provides a range of luxury accommodations and since its refurbishment in 2013 each and each area is welcoming warm and inviting whilst still retaining the rustic charm of this building. Whilst I remained in the Lawrence Olivier Suite I had been at the Hotel — named for its famous actor used to this space into Devon throughout his trips. Situated on the ground floor and with the tumbling views of the Devonshire countryside as the eye could see it is surely worth investing a little more to stay here. The golf course gives way to a palette of browns and greens with splashes of bracken and forestry at the distance and when the morning sunrise breaks through the mist it is clear to see why this chamber is so popular.
The space is furnished in an style that was periodic, with a bed being a predominant feature. Tones reflecting the magnificent views are splashed on all through the room with avocado-coloured armchairs and mahogany furniture. A pair of beautiful drapes separate the window/living place and the bedroom and include a further injection of grandeur style.
This is an ideal and cosy hub read a publication in the armchair to ebb away your anxiety and just take in the atmosphere.
The Spa
Access for leisure facilities and their spa are included and well worth a visit whilst staying at Highbullen Hotel. The spa features a sauna, pool and spa- with the hot tub whilst you sit back and unwind. Whilst that is you could spend an entire day, it’s an ideal way to unwind after a morning.
Dining
There are a range of continental options (the pain au chocolat are divine) and other sexy snacks such as a full English, porridge and Haddock with poached egg. Breakfast at Highbullen isn’t one to be overlooked!
