Since you park your vehicle and enter the grounds of Kilworth, the very first thing you see just how well the land is maintained and is a gorgeous archway dripping the more statutory of your family home, with fairy lights. The woodland is perfect for an afternoon stroll along with your loved one, explore the paths and spot. In the off, it is obvious this is a Resort.
Kilworth house: The Hotel
As you enter the hotel it presents itself using class and a tradition, the lounges are well decorated and have a fire for one to sit back, unwind and enjoy some traditional board games. The smell of burning wood that is gentle drifts throughout the lobby and immediately entices you into, where a concierge is available to ease you and help you and waiting. Kilworth is home to a range of individually designed rooms and suites for you to stay in and pride themselves that no two rooms are exactly the same. We’re in one of the more conventional “garden rooms” however, the rooms decoration varies from the more modern to four poster bed rooms or Garden rooms which include a perspective of the knot garden or estate.
Our Estate perspective brought lots of light in through the window. The room itself was spacious but the decor a little overly. (Remember each room is different at this resort!) The bed was a king size and incredibly comfortable, the pillows soft and fluffy on the skin — the ideal recipe for the perfect sleep. The bathroom was an adequate size which comprised a tub (With an attached shower) and complimented toiletries. A trouser press, iron making amenities come a TV in addition to standard from the backyard rooms.
Kilworth house: The Theatre
Theatre is a passion by Kilworth’s owners — so much so that they decided to start their own open-air theater in the grounds. It’s located within 38 acres of beautiful woodland and seats 550 guests (on comfy padded seats) with an onsite bar facility for snacks and beverages whilst you see. The displays run come shine or rain (thanks to the sail-like canopy which provides protection for the viewer and stage area) and have been compared to West End shows for their exceptional production. If you don’t stay at the Hotel it’s well worth coming for a visit and organising a pre or post-show dinner or lunch in the restaurant of the Hotel.
Kilworth home: The Restaurant — The Orangery
We had our dinner at the orangery that’s a feature to the building. It lets you sit down and dine beneath a glass, timber and elaborate wrought iron ceiling which fills the space with loads of light and gives you a perfect view of the stars twinkling in the sky during the night. In the background you can delight in the charm of a grand piano playing with songs -a beautiful accompaniment whilst you feast on fine cuisine.
The menu provides many different dishes both for meat vegetarian and lovers. I picked for Pigeon Breast that was cooked very well and was perfectly complimented by its accompaniments of beetroot and succulent, soft, orange and appear jelly.
The menu to the main course provides a variety of seven dishes making it very hard to select (I had been torn between three different dishes!) I opted with Jersey royals and ratatouille tastes. The lamb was not too fatty and fell when the sauce that accompanied the dish was powerful and went nicely with the Lamb, the knife glided through, and the jersey royals were cooked just how I like them. My Partner on this occasion went for something aside from her routine “Chicken Dish” that she generally opts for and instead picked the rump beef, which comes with Worcestershire sauce mushrooms, tomato, parsley noodles and butter. Having asked to come out medium rare, the steak was juicy and tender. The tastes of the Worcestershire sauce piled the fries and the steak were a nice touch.
Desserts wise we opted for the chocolate brownie with a Passion fruit mousse along with caramel ice cream with meringue. We both have a sweet tooth and were satisfied by the desserts which were as visually pleasing as they were yummy.
Breakfast was included in our stay that was a traditional English breakfast (this went down a deal) or a selection of pastries and cereals that were displayed in the center of the orangery together with a variety of juices, teas and coffee. It’s well worth bettering yourself.
Kilworth House: The Summary
Overall the food the theatre incredible at Kilworth house was good, the surroundings beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. We had been a little disappointed with our room but having seen the other rooms available; this room didn’t do the hotel justice. On a price point the expense realize the theater show and to have food is reasonable and having spoken to other guests their stay was loved by them as well. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
