Afternoon Tea is a love here at the City, which is precisely why we wished to put up a roundup of 4 locations we visited that we can’t recommend highly enough at Seen. Let us know your favorite places in the comments below…
Bovey Castle
Hidden away in the depths of Devon is Bovey castle- a resort which provides views across the countryside that is stunning. They offer a delicious afternoon tea throughout the year and after our trip we can’t help but rave about just how good they are…
Our experience
Upon arrival, we had been guided to the lavish Great Western and Smith’s brassiere (their main restaurant) and have been seated by our waitress. As we’d heard previously about it ordering the afternoon tea was a true enthusiasm. Scones were brought out with thick cream and jam, the conventional finger sandwiches were perfect and light enough without feeling overly full, that you could appreciate the cakes. Homemade and delicious, this can be an afternoon tea which will leave you satisfied.

Pirate Themed Tea in the Hilton
If you’re looking for something a little different for the afternoon tea, then the Pirate tasting tea at the Hilton is a real treat for many…
The experience
Upon arrival into the Columbia restaurant (inside the Hilton) we were guided to the themed libary, a posh interior where we had been seated in-front of a large window, letting us enjoy the picturesque views of the Thames.
The tea originated with a yummy collection of finger sandwiches along with choice of teas. The highlight however, was that the sweets. Pastries and the Scones were delivered at a Pirates torso, complete with a filling of golden coins! They provide a tasty flavor of prosecco.

The Capital
World Renowned Michelin star chef Nathan Outlaw has set his twist on a traditional cream tea that we had to try.
The experience
Arriving at the capital is quite a scene, outside you have luxury Ferraris parking up and just around the corner (literally a 1-minute walk) you’ve Harrods where you can shop until you drop.
The afternoon tea occurs in its area on the left of the main building, a room which feels inviting and really homely.
From when you first enter the space it’s a true excitement, firstly a choice of sandwiches and pastries arrive, which are presented impeccably and taste divine. After you’ve the scones, freshly roasted, they fall apart with each mouthful. (You’ll want to eat these gradually and savour every mouthful since they are just so great!) Finally you have the dessert — a variety of fresh cakes which ticks of the boxes off.
This really is the place to be if you are currently heading to Harrods and want something different.

Buckland Tout Saints
Located on top of a countryside you’ve Buckland Tout Saints, a resort which provides that personal touch that stays in your head once you depart. This resort really went above and beyond on the stay, which left an ever lasting feeling with their afternoon tea and hospitality.
The experience
Serving a variety of teas, there are lots to choose from. We went with a glass of fizz which really was a cure to the sparkling afternoon tea. Imagine sitting in front of the roaring fire, glass of champagne in one hand and a scone full of jam and cream in the other — paradise.
Mind chef Ted Ruewell that was well known makes the afternoon tea.
