Tucked away only a couple of minutes walk from Marble Arch station and Oxford Street, The Arch Hotel is an ideal respite from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Despite having over 80 rooms, the Hotel is labelled ’boutique.’ And despite it having over 80 rooms- it is felt by it. Maintaining an intimate and homely atmosphere, this can be somewhere to stay with a lot greater than a enviable notable and postcode neighbours.
As soon as you walk into the doors you’re embraced with the sense of walking to your house away. It’s the smell of burning candles mingled with the scents of the Hunter 486 restaurant mean every one of your senses instantly spring to life and that ambience.
The Space
We were put up at the deluxe suite on the second floor, with views overlooking the street below. The room encapsulated the same motif as the remainder of the Resort- a taste of English Heritage combined with a contemporary edge. Aswell as a sizable bed we had a lounge area and large bathroom. (One of the highlights being a television embedded to the wall over the bath!)
Free tea and coffee and free soft drinks from the mini bar were all nice touches, as were several yummy “welcome” macarons! Sky is included in the area and it was fine to have the ability to use the audio stations although we didn’t have a lot of time to watch tv whilst we had been getting ready for dinner.
Dinner
For dinner we ate in the restaurant’s favorite Hunter 486 restaurant- its namesake paying charge to the 1950s dialling code for Marylebone. The restaurant has an fresh and eclectic artistic ambience with an open plan kitchen allowing diners to watch the chefs at work. Through the large windows you can sit and see the gentle bustle of this neighbourhood mews pass you by and as night falls light provides an intimate and romantic setting for drinks and lunch.
Upon arrival we were introduced with a few of the chef’s handmade crisps (utterly delicious and well worth a try) to sample whilst we surveyed the menu. Head Chef Gary Durrant & Henrietta Green- a food and hospitality consultant, food writer and broadcaster have labored to make an enticing collection of dishes providing an array of cuisine to satisfy even the fussiest of colour. For starters I opted for the soup of the day (celeriac) and my spouse for the rare beef salad with winterslaw along with horseradish dressing. The soup was fragrant and flavoursome- the beef salad succulent with a real zing from the dressing as well as a true winter warmer.

For mains I chose the Roast Black Leg free range chicken. This came with jus, roast garlic, greens and roast potatoes and can be priced in19. The chicken has been cooked in their very own stone oven and the taste difference is more evident than you might expect. The beef is tender and succulentto cut from the bone and not in the least bit tender. These tastes are perfectly complimented by the richness of this jus and the corresponding garlic and I was pleased with my selection. My partner went to the Braised lamb shank and that was accompanied by veggies and a side of chips. Everything has been cooked full of flavours wonderfully when brought into the table, and piping hot.
There has been a selection of five desserts on the menu and I picked the chocolate fondant ! With burnt orange ice cream” and also my spouse the sticky toffee pudding, that was sprinkled with caramelised banana ice cream. Our desserts were followed by us using a cocktail each- with prices starting from #12 their cocktails are obviously a reasonable price and utterly delicious.
Our bill came to just over #60 a head (such as a bottle of red wine with our meal) so whilst it will not break the bank, it is surely a restaurant for a treat.
After dinner you can go and relax in their bar area and lounge- modern classy and alluring, the decor is Perfect for a quiet post-dinner tipple.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served at the Hunter restaurant also provides a whole array of options to kick-start your day. From the continental and complete english to scrambled eggs on sourdough toast and smoked salmon. Unlike a few ‘english’ breakfast whereby you need to pick things this was all brought out fresh and raised the bar for hotel stalls that bit higher.
The Arch
Without atmosphere so, A beautiful resort nestled in the centre of London, the Arch is ideal for a romantic escape or city break. Be sure to take advantage of its close proximity to Oxford Street and head to the stores and make sure you sample one of the Hotel’s cocktails…
